Kimberly Stuckwisch is an award-winning film and theatre writer/director whose work blends magical realism with everyday life. She built a career as a vocal supporter of bold ideas, often bringing awareness to timely social issues. In commercials and music videos, her work has showcased at Cannes, Sundance, TIFF, Camerimage, SXSW, Ciclope, The Clios, the MTV VMAs, the UKMVs, and in theaters across the world.
Kimberly exploded onto the directorial scene in 2020 with a streak of accolades including a shots Awards shortlist for “New Director of the Year,” “Best New Director” at the MVPAs, and SXSW's Prism International “Directors to Watch” selection.
Her debut in music video earned her a UKMVA award for “Best Rock Video - Newcomer” for Jeremy Ivey’s “Someone Else’s Problem,” also in competition at SXSW. Her video for Broken Bells' "Good Luck" was nominated for “Best Music Video” at Camerimage and shots, and won two Bronze Clios for “Best Music Video,” “Best Direction” and the New Generation Award at Berlin Commercial Awards. Her video for Samm Henshaw's "The World is Mine" won Gold at the Kinsale Shark Awards and a nomination at the MVPAs. For Pearl Derringer, Kimberly directed "Little Baby," ft. Margo Price, which won “Best Music Video” at the LA Independent Film Festival and LA Femme International, was shortlisted at the 1.4 Awards, and competed at SXSW.
Kimberly directed Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour Prom, a 27-minute music film that shot to #1 YouTube and VEVO, trending globally and gaining 11 million views in two weeks. The film, a cinematic, coming of age journey, was nominated for “Best Special Video Project” at the UKMVAs and was shortlisted for a Young Director’s Award. For Angel Olsen, Kimberly’s directed Big Time, a 28 minute film that was a semi-finalist at Cannes Indie Shorts Awards.
In commercials, Kimberly directed the K-pop inspired “Whole Bag Kind of Night,” for SkinnyPop and 360i, earning her a spot in SHOOT!’s New Directors Showcase. Her campaign for Bose, “Turn the Dial,” featuring H.E.R., PinkPantheress, BLOND:ISH, and WondaGurl, promoted the company's initiative to close the gender gap in music production. In collaboration with Jeremy Scott, Kimberly directed multiple campaigns for Moschino including the campy fashion film Jungle Red, with an all-star cast including Winnie Harlow and Ditta Von Teese, and Lightening Strikes, an elaborate theatrical musical starring Karen Elson. Most recently, she directed the provocative and playful rebrand campaign for Drybar, “Feeling PolyGlamorous?” for Razorfish.
In long form, Kimberly is in pre-production on her second feature The Perfect Girl with Artina Films. Her first film, Canvas, premiered at Cinequest 2020 and is currently on the festival circuit. By the age of 26, Kimberly had assistant-directed over a dozen indie films - her “film school” - and second unit-directed numerous features.
Kimberly is president and founder of Elysian Theater, an experimental and acclaimed venue for cutting edge comedy. oh yeah, and she’s also a clown.
